The Jade and the Pearl

Princess Yan was determined to marry a vassal state and become a princess. During the long journey of marriage, she became enemies with General Cheng, who was in charge of escorting her. Unexpectedly, the two of them became increasingly in love. The two of them disregarded the incompatibility of heaven and earth and exchanged dowry pearls and family heirloom jadeite as a bond, but were attacked by mountain bandits. In the chaos, Yan stumbled and fell off the cliff, and Cheng fell into the hands of the mountain bandits. A couple of lovers are separated, each having an adventure. Cheng was taken back to the mountain stronghold by the female leader of the mountain bandits, Zhu Sanniang. Yan survived the disaster, but lost her memory. She was rescued by the storyteller Ling Gankai.
