Friday Report: 'Date Night' Edges Out 'Clash'
Date Night was the top choice on date night, attracting an estimated $9.3 million on approximately 4,600 screens at 3,374 locations. That's a bigger opening day than The Bounty Hunter's $7.6 million last month and well above par amongst similar past titles. The comedy was the only major new nationwide release on Friday.

Clash of the Titans fell 68 percent to an estimated $8.4 million, but remains in contention for the weekend top spot. 300's second Friday decline was 64 percent, but was down 54 percent for the weekend as a whole. Clash has tallied $92 million in eight days.

Also in the mix, How to Train Your Dragon saw the smallest dip among nationwide releases, off 36 percent to an estimated $7.1 million. It has tallied $115.6 million in 15 days.

The Last Song held better than Hannah Montana The Movie did at the same point, down 50 percent to an estimated $3.6 million for a $36 million total in ten days. Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too? made an estimated $3.5 million, which was about the same as its predecessor's second Friday. Its 71 percent tumble was steep even by Perry standards, and its total is $41 million in eight days.

Also opening were Christian drama Letters to God and horror The Black Waters of Echo's Pond and both drew few patrons, making an estimated $395,000 at 897 sites and $75,000 at 404 sites, respectively.
