Whispers and Moans (2007)

Set during a time of failing nightclubs in Hong Kong, the film follows the lives of various sex workers and those associated with one such club over a number of days. Coco, a manager of the hostesses, struggles with being absent from her young daughter's life, the loss of patronage from her "husbands", and the fear of contracting a sexually transmitted disease. Nana increasingly finds it difficult to maintain the secret double life of normal girlfriend by day, hostess by night. Meanwhile, Nana's sister is on a path of self-destruction due to her drug addiction. Other themes the film treats with are homosexuality, hierarchy in the sex industry, tension with the mainland, and the need for more respect and rights for sex-industry workers.
