'Superman Returns' Begins Production

BURBANK, CA, March 21, 2005—Principal photography is underway in Sydney, Australia on Warner Bros. Pictures' highly anticipated action adventure Superman Returns, it was announced today by Jeff Robinov, President of Production, Warner Bros. Pictures. Directed by Bryan Singer (X2: X-Men United, X-Men, The Usual Suspects), the film stars newcomer Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth (Beyond the Sea, Blue Crush), Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey (Beyond the Sea, American Beauty), James Marsden (X2: X-Men United, The Notebook), Academy Award-winner Eva Marie Saint (North By Northwest), Parker Posey (Blade: Trinity, Best in Show), Kal Penn (Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Love Don't Cost a Thing) and Sam Huntington (Detroit Rock City).
Brandon Routh, who has previously made notable guest appearances on such television series as Cold Case and Gilmore Girls, will play the dual roles of Clark Kent and the Man of Steel. Joining Routh are Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane; Kevin Spacey as Superman's archenemy, Lex Luthor; James Marsden as Richard White; Eva Marie Saint as Martha Kent; Parker Posey as Kitty Kowalski; Kal Penn as Stanford; and Sam Huntington as Jimmy Olsen.
A Warner Bros. Pictures presentation of a Peters Entertainment production, in association with Bad Hat Harry Productions, a Bryan Singer film, Superman Returns is produced by Jon Peters, Bryan Singer and Gilbert Adler from a screenplay by Michael Dougherty & Dan Harris. The executive producer is Chris Lee.
